Git, the way VS Code has it: history, blame, a tree of changes, staging by the line.
The commits behind HEAD are listed under the changes. A History section in the source control panel: the last fifty commits, each unfolding into the files it touched, each file opening as the commit's version beside its parent's. Both halves of a compare are coloured now, too — the committed side never was.
The changes can be a tree. Right-click the panel for View as Tree: files under their folders, single-child folders joined, the way the file tree has them. It is remembered.
Who last changed the line you are on. The status bar says the author and when; the end of the line says that and the commit's subject, dimmed. Shown once the file is saved. Off with the Show who last changed the current line setting.
Changed lines are marked in the gutter. A bar beside the number for a line that differs from the last commit — added, changed, or with lines removed above it — kept current as you type.
Stage or revert just the selected lines. On the Git menu and the text's own right-click menu. The lines' hunks go to the index and nothing else, or come back from it and nothing else.
Stash, amend and undo. Stash and Pop Latest Stash, Commit (Amend) with the box's message or without, and Undo Last Commit, which leaves its changes staged. All on the Git menu.
A tab has a right-click menu. Close, Close Others, Close to the Right, Close Saved, Close All; the file's path and reveal entries; Split Right.
