Ferrum 0.3.0

Three ways to find your way around a file without leaving it, and a fix for presence.

Editor

  • Peek Definition and Peek References. Alt+F12 opens the definition under the caret in a panel inside the editor, right below the line; Shift+Alt+F12 does the same for every reference. Several results are listed on the left and the arrow keys walk them; Enter goes there for real, Escape closes the panel. Both are on the Go menu.
  • Code lenses. The small actions a language server hangs above a line, such as Run and Debug on a test, or n references on a type, are drawn after the line and can be clicked. Run puts the command in the terminal; references open a peek.
  • Outline. A new pane on the rail lists the file's symbols, nested the way the server nests them, with the one the caret is in marked. Clicking a symbol goes to it. The breadcrumb trail at the top of the editor now ends with the symbols enclosing the caret, and those are clickable too.
  • Go to Symbol lands on the symbol. It used to land on the doc comment above it.

Account

  • Presence starts when you sign in. Signing in from inside the editor never started reporting until the next launch, so the admin page could not see you; signing out kept reporting with a dead token. Both are fixed.

macOS

  • Updates install in place. Pressing Install on an update unpacks the new bundle beside the old one, swaps them, and reopens the editor. Before this the Mac build could only download.
  • The Claude usage plugin reads the Keychain, which is where Claude Code keeps its token on a Mac, so the usage reading works there.
